CASTING!  We had a great day casting yesterday down at Creative Studios of Atlanta.  We saw almost 40 amazing and talented actors and actresses over the course of a very long day.  A couple of actors just came in and nailed the part, but in most cases, we have some difficult decisions ahead of us.  But we all agree, it was a successful day!

Survivor Type on Kickstarter!!

The production team for “Survivor Type” have launched a kickstarter project to help augment our meager budget for “Survivor Type”.   As part of our agreement with Mr. King, we can’t make any profit off the film, so fundraising is strictly a “from-the-bottom-of-your-heart” sort of affair.  However, we are offering all kinds of movie swag and screen credit, and some really fun things at the higher levels, like “Adopt-A-Prop” where you can take home a memento from the film.

If you are fan of our previous work, or if you are a Stephen King fan, or if you just like supporting independent art, we would appreciate it if you would take a look at the Kickstarter site and see if you felt like it was a project worth supporting.  If you don’t have any money (and trust us, we understand), could you reblog this post so we can get the message out to as many people as possible.  We’re not asking for a fortune, just enough to bridge the quality gap between “decent but lacking” and “pretty damn good.”

Thank you for your support!

Writing “Survivor Type”

I figured since word is getting around about our adaption of Stephen King’s “Survivor Type”, I would let everyone know the progress and process of where we are with the script.

Some things to note:

  1. I am a huge Stephen King fan.
  2. I am a child of the 1980’s and lived through the peak of very bad Stephen King movie adaptions.
  3. “Survivor Type” is one of my favorite of his short stories.

Now, with all that said, rest assured that myself and everyone else involved in this production, want to make the best film we can. We are trying to get the script as true to the story as we can. We have taken some liberties to update the story, since the original came out over 25 years ago. But we all have a deep respect for Mr. King’s work, so the changes are mostly going to be subtle ones.

Right now, I’ve finished the first draft and am working towards a shooting script draft. Basically, it needs to be something that myself, our director and our producer are all 100% happy with.

That is all for now and thank you for your interest in our film.

Gearing Up

After several months of script writing, Jayson has finished a first draft and we have begun pre-production on Survivor Type.   Location Scouting is about to commence (more on that in a future post) and we have hired a casting agency to get moving on that front.  Our web presence will start taking shape shortly as well.  This production blog is our first move in that direction.

We hope to update this production blog fairly regularly, we want to keep all the King fans in the loop as we create this film.  If you have any questions for us, drop us a line a survivortypefilm (at) gmail.com.
